    Barbara Joy Northway Mitchell Petrie was born March 4th, 1932 at Xenia, Kansas, the daughter of Scott Newell Northway and Gladys Faye (Lucas) Northway. Barbara attended Xenia Grade School and graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1950. On November 26th 1950, she married her sweetheart of four years, Floyd Dean Mitchell. They were blessed with two daughters. Barbara enjoyed working along side her husband on their farm north of Blue Mound. They received the conservation award in 1977.
