He was born in Beagle, Kansas on March 16, 1930 the son of Elmer and Ella Masoner Beckman. He attended schools in La Cygne and Paola, graduating from Paola High School. He was united in marriage to Sarah Widner on January 31, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Nowata, Oklahoma. Charles worked for Conoco Phillips retiring as a plant superintendent after thirty five years of service. He and his twin brother Daniel Crase were born on August 7, 1927 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Ruth Jay Clark and one month later adopted by Frank E. and Mary (Russell) Crase of Garden City. On September 25, 1949 he married Edna Rosetta Ochs in Garden City, Kansas. 63 years later on May 7, 2012 she passed away. David was a World War II Veteran serving aboard the USS Iowa in the pacific.
